Work With Us

Do work that actually matters.
On your terms.

We're a small distributed practice working with real small business owners on real problems. If you're an independent practitioner who builds things that work — not just decks — this might be the right fit.

Why join

The honest case for working with us

No corporate hierarchy. No billable-hour politics. Just real engagements with real business owners who need real help.

Real problems, real impact

Every project is a live business problem — not a strategy exercise. You'll see the difference your work makes, not read about it in a quarterly review six months later.

Your pace, your projects

You choose what you take on. No minimum hours, no retainer commitments. If a project fits your skills and schedule, you're in. If it doesn't, you pass.

Zero admin hassle

We source the engagement, scope the work, and handle all billing. You deliver the project. At the end, we issue a 1099 — that's it. No chasing invoices, no client negotiation.

Work with practitioners, not managers

You'll co-deliver alongside people who are actively building and learning — not overseeing from a distance. The first project is always a co-counsel engagement so the fit is mutual.

Diverse industry exposure

Work across different sectors, business models, and tech stacks without resetting your career. Build a versatile portfolio of practical wins that accelerates your expertise far faster than a single in-house role — real solutions without enterprise complexity.

Pure execution, zero politics

Focus 100% of your energy on solving problems and delivering results. No performance reviews, no corporate bureaucracy — just do great work, get paid, and move forward.

How it works

From application to first paycheck

A straightforward four-step process designed to make sure the fit is right — for both sides.

1

Apply with your portfolio

Send us your resume, a short cover note on why you want to work with SMB owners navigating AI, and your most relevant work — prior projects, AI tools you've built, or case studies. Real work only; no theoretical frameworks.

2

We review and get in touch

We review every application personally. If there's a fit, we'll reach out for a short conversation to understand your availability, areas of strength, and the kinds of projects you want to work on.

3

First project as co-counsel

Your first engagement runs as a co-counsel arrangement — you work alongside us on a live project. This is how we calibrate quality, communication, and working style before putting your name in front of clients independently.

4

Deliver, debrief, get paid

Once the project wraps, we do a short case debrief together — what worked, what didn't, what to carry forward. After the debrief, we process your payment and issue a 1099. Your profile goes live on the site after your first completed engagement.

All contractor arrangements are independent contractor agreements governed by a 1099 arrangement. This is not an offer of employment.

What we look for

No specific credentials required

We care about what you've built and how you think — not where you went to school or what your job title is.

Genuine interest in helping small business owners — not as a stepping stone to enterprise work. Our clients are solopreneurs and SMB operators. If that excites you, you'll thrive here.

Real solutions, not slide decks — you've built something that actually runs. An AI workflow, an automation, a reporting model, a client-facing tool. Something a business owner can use on Monday morning.

Clear, direct communication — our clients are non-technical. You don't need to dumb things down, but you do need to explain what you built and why it works without relying on jargon.

Independent and self-directed — you manage your own time, flag blockers early, and deliver what you commit to. We don't micromanage; we expect the same in return.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to be based in Dallas-Fort Worth?
No — most project work is remote. DFW-based contractors may occasionally be invited to in-person client sessions or community programs, but it's not a requirement.
How much does each project pay?
Compensation is project-scoped and discussed before you commit to any engagement. We're transparent about the budget before you agree to take it on — no surprises at invoice time.
How many projects will I be offered?
We're a small practice — we don't guarantee a volume of work. Some contractors work with us on one or two projects a year; others are more active. The pace is driven by client demand and your availability.
Can I work with other clients at the same time?
Yes — we're a non-exclusive arrangement. You're an independent contractor, and we don't restrict who else you work with as long as there's no direct conflict of interest on an active shared engagement.
What does the case debrief involve?
A short structured conversation at the end of each project — what the client's starting situation was, what was built or delivered, what worked, what you'd do differently, and what the measurable outcome was. It takes about 30 minutes and becomes part of our internal knowledge base.
Will my name appear on the website?
After your first completed engagement, yes — we add you to the team page with a short profile. As you complete more projects, your profile reflects that track record. It's opt-in; if you prefer to stay unlisted, that's fine too.
I don't have an AI background — can I still apply?
Yes. What matters is that you've used AI tools to solve a real problem — not that you can build an LLM from scratch. Business process, operations, marketing, data, facilitation — all relevant. If you've used Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI tool to deliver something real for a client or employer, that counts.
